The event is still general admission.  There will still be a VIP area, sponsored by Vita Coco, featuring a separate entrance, separate bar area restroom facilities and premium seat locations so all VIP tickets will be honored. Due to the relocation from an outside venue to the Liacouras Center, unfortunately we are no longer able to accommodate the specialty Food Trucks for the Food Bazaar but the Liacouras Center will be operating with all normal concessions and bars open.

POPPED! Music Festival Moved to LIACOURAS CENTER

Due to forecasted weather conditions and possible flooding at FDR Park
POPPED! Music Festival has been moved to:
LIACOURAS CENTER
1776 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA

ALL TICKETS FOR THE FDR PARK SHOWS WILL BE HONORED AT THE DOOR

Due to the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms forecasted by the National Weather Service over the next several days for the Philadelphia area, the POPPED! Music Festival, scheduled for Sept 23 & 24 at FDR Park, has been moved to the Liacouras Center at 1776 N. Broad Street on Temple’s campus, in Philadelphia.

The producers of the event along with the Friends of FDR Park are taking the necessary precautions to insure a quality event and everyone’s safety. With the record rainfall the city has seen over the last month and the expected rain scheduled for the rest of the week, the ground will simply be oversaturated with water.  In an effort to save the park from thousands of people congregating over 2 days in the excessively wet area and still be able to bring a safe, exciting event to Philadelphia, the decision was made to move the POPPED! Music Festival to the Liacouras Center.

All previously purchased tickets will be honored and tickets are on sale now for the Liacouras shows through Ticketmaster.  Single Day Tickets and Two Day Passes for the POPPED! Music Festival are on sale now. Advanced price tickets ($59.50 each day for single day tix & $110 for 2 day passes) are available through Ticketmaster.com, ComcastTIX.com, PoppedPhiladelphia.com, The Liacouras Center Box Office and the Electric Factory Box Office located at 421 N. 7th Street (no service fees for cash purchases!). Day-of-event tickets will be $65 each and available at the Liacouras Center box office.

The Liacouras Center is easily accessible with area parking lots, on-street parking and numerous public transportation options.

Broad Street Subway: All local Broad Street subway trains stop at Cecil B. Moore Station (Broad and Cecil B. Moore Avenue).

By Septa Bus: The “C” bus stops on Broad Street at Cecil B. Moore Avenue, Montgomery Avenue, Berks Mall and Norris Street. The “3″ bus stops on Cecil B. Moore Avenue from 11th Street to Broad Street.

Sun Airway added to Saturday POPPED! Line-up!

Hailing from Philadelphia, Sun Airway is led by songwriter Jon Barthmus, who is joined by fellow sound sculptor Patrick Marsceill.  Sun Airway twists their songs with their kaleidoscopic production — lush electronic washes, synthetic textures and pulsing rhythms — obscuring the hooks in hazy pop bliss.

Recorded primarily in Barthmus’ basement studio over the course of 18 months, their debut full-length, Nocturne of Exploded Crystal Chandelier, released by Dead Oceans, blends processed sounds, field recordings and timeless vocal melodies into their abstract fractured pop. The duo expands to a full blown quintet when performing live, with projections designed for each song, creating a wondrous sensory overload. In addition to an ambitious live show, Sun Airway have been reinventing the music of others, with remixes of Delorean, Kisses, Here We Go Magic and more circulating around the internet.

Anamanaguchi added to POPPED! Music Festival line-up!

Anamanaguchi
is an awesome four-piece melodic, 8-bit rock band from Brooklyn, New York. Combining raw guitars and thrashing drums with a glitchy digital soundscape, they create a powerful, energetic sound that rests somewhere between organic and robotic.

POPPED! Featured Artist: Charles Bradley

Charles Bradley – a funk/soul/R&B singer signed to Daptone Records and now a 2011 POPPED! Music Festival act performing on Saturday, September 24th!

Charles first found an audience when he began making appearances in local Brooklyn clubs performing his James Brown routines under the alter ego of “Black Velvet.” Thomas Brenneck, songwriter and guitarist for the Bullets, met Charles and they began working together. Charles confided with Thomas and told him his challenging childhood and his painful past including the story of the death of his brother. From them on, Brenneck knew that Charles needed to translate his story into music.

At the time, Brenneck was in the process of forming Menahan Street Band, an amalgamation of members of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, El Michels Affair, The Budos Band, Lee Fields & the Expressions and Antibalas. The Menahan Street Band is one of the most sampled bands in the business and has been sampled in Jay-Z’s signature horn sound for his smash “Roc Boys (And The Winner Is)” and Kid Cudi’s sampled their guitar lines for “Mr. Solo Dolo.” The music is steeped in classic soul and afrobeat but displays an acute awareness for hip hop.

Many late night writing and recording sessions later, he and Brenneck completed their first full-length record, No Time For Dreaming.

Paste Magazine has called this “one of the best Daptone releases to date.”
